Dramatic and incisive recording of Walton's ground-breaking Belshazzar's Feast, commissioned by the Leeds Festival and premiered in Leeds Town Hall in 1931. Huddersfield Choral Society and Leeds Philharmonic Chorus, with semichorus from Laudibus. English Northern Philharmonia conducted by Paul Daniel, with Christopher Purves (baritone) and Simon Lindley (organ). Recorded in Leeds Town Hall, July 2001. CD also includes Walton's two coronation marches, Crown Imperial (1937) and Orb and Sceptre (1953).
